Apple Preventing Staff Holidays Ahead Of Verizon iPhone Launch

While Verizon haven’t reveled any sign of the iPhone at CES, there is still more rumors floating around suggesting its imminent launch.
Cnet have reported that Apple has limited vacation time for its retail store employees over the next two months, probably in order to handle crowds from a new product, hopefully the CDMA iPhone destined for Verizon.
Apple have done this in the past for previous launches of the next generation iPhone so they are definitely planning something. It’s one of two things, either the Verizon iPhone, or the second generation iPad. But apparently Apple is getting ready to schedule a media event on January 11th to introduce the device.
During this weekend’s 2011 CES, he says, Apple will steal some thunder by announcing a product-launch event on Tuesday, January 11. (That’s 1/11/11, if you’re into numerology.) At that event, the company will finally announce the long-awaited Verizon iPhone. (Cue “Hallelujah” chorus.)
Alas, this is all just hearsay, and while a lot of it seems reasonable–likely, even–there’s still no official word from either Apple or Verizon.
My tipster, citing a close relative who works high up the Apple food chain, said the new iPhone will be CDMA-based (no surprise there) and ship in February. He also noted that Apple was limiting staff vacation time for January and February, ostensibly to handle a sharp increase in sales and service traffic.
This source who is “high up the Apple food chain” also reveals that the CDMA iPhone will go on sale in February. Appleinsider are also reporting similar news about the holiday block for the last week of January and the first two weeks of February, apparently Apple have kept on most of their extra holiday staff as well.

It’s really looking like it might finally happen, but Apple is cutting it very tight with a press announcement just 5 days away, normally Apple give a weeks notice for this sort of thing.
What ever’s going to happen, let’s hope it happens sooner rather than later as I’m sure the suspense is killing some US customers eager to buy an iPhone
