iOS 5 Beta Tethered Jailbreak Tool Has Been Released

Apple’s Steve Jobs must indeed be really annoyed since the well-known iPhone-Dev Team has recently released a tethered iOS beta jailbreak tool. The solution has been developed by redsn0w and it became available just a couple of days after MuscleNerd, another iPhone-Dev Team member, tweeted to the world that the team had managed to jailbroke Apple’s iOS 5 developer beta version.
The team, however, has warned users that they should think twice before using this jailbreak tool on iOS 5 beta, since they could lose the unlockable baseband when trying to install iOS 5. Those who are eager to install unofficial apps on their devices and are willing to take the risk may go ahead and install redsn0w’s solution.

The jailbreak tool is compatible with CDMA and GSM iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2 and iPod Touch 3 and 4. The current solution has been developed for Mac users, but a jailbreak solution for Windows should be available as well in the future.
Users will also need to repeat the jailbreak process every time they reboot their iPhone, iPad or iPod, since this is only a tethered jailbreak tool.
“If you see a white icon for Cydia, or if Cydia or Safari crash when you open them, it’s because you didn’t boot tethered”, the iPhone-Dev Team informed the unlockers.
iOS 5 is vulnerable to the limera1n exploit, which enabled the team to develop the jailbreak solution but since this is the iOS 5 beta version that we are talking about, it is possible that Apple secures its iOS against limera1n by the time the company launches the gold master iOS 5.
