I know how much you guys in the US are looking for the iPhone to finally come to Verizon, and while Steve Jobs didn’t announce it at WWDC, I’m sure there’s still hope for you. But now there may be another option for you, T-Mobile.
Shaw Wu, an analyst with the investment firm Kaufman Bros, is telling investors that the iPhone may come to T-Mobile USA as early as this fall. Wu said that the iPhone will be available on multiple carriers in the United States by 2011, and the first carrier to get the iPhone after AT&T exclusivity ends is likely to be T-Mobile. His sources? Discussions with Apple’s product supply chain.
T-Mobile is the smallest of the four major US Carriers but if we look at the European side of the company, it’s big and growing with the iPhone in a variety of countries. Heck they even just announced they were getting the iPhone 4 in the UK
Another reason T-Mobile may be favored over Verizon is that they are a GSM network like AT&T so no alterations to the iPhone would be necessary. But another question is, could T-Mobile’s network support all those iPhone users? Wu is also saying that other companies like Sprint and Verizon could be getting the iPhone as well, but they have to perform some upgrades on their network first.
I don’t know, maybe this is just another wild rumor, or it could be true?
