It seems like only the other day, the first official jailbreak method was released by the dev team, all you had to do was navigate to jailbreakme.com and it would jailbreak your device right from the browser. And of course Apple weren’t too happy with this, but it also showed up a big security flaw in the iOS software, which Apple have promptly fixed.
iOS 4.0.2 has just been released and this patches up that exploit, but it also prevents the dev teams browser jailbreak method from working. So you can have a choice, update your iPhone to 4.0.2 and protect it against possible malicious pdf exploits, or continue to have the ability to jailbreak your iPhone.
