- Users can enable/disable iTunes synch via Wi-Fi
- Safari can be set to open webpages in the background
- iOS 5 lets users customize the OTA update system, namely they can check whether there are any updates available and even disable the update feature
- Twitter has been given a special menu in Settings. The app installs itself as soon as users have logged in with their Apple account
- The FaceTime button has been moved in the upper part of the Messages menu
- Users can customize the notifications from the Notifications Center and choose how many notifications they want to see
- New sounds are available for incoming email notifications and users could also buy other sounds from the iTunes in the future
- Users can shorten some of the expressions they frequently use and link the abbreviation to a shortcut on the keyboard. The iOS 5 brings a native abbreviation called omw which translates through „On My Way!”
- Users can also print parts of the maps displayed in the Maps app
- New albums can be created directly from the Photos app and users can delete or add photos to the existing albums
- Email can be marked as „Read/Unread”
- The Caller ID feature can be replaced by the phone number or the email address during FaceTime calls
- The Weather apps displays weather info in real time depending on the area we are in
- Users can finally erase single call from the call log
- Camera Roll can be started from the Camera app with a simple swype to the left/right
- Long links are no longer displayed in Safari’s bar, instead a Reading list button is shown
- The buttons from iOS 5’s menus are slightly round and enclosed in round borders
