Of course, any small little detail always gets us thinking and asking questions, and this job posting from Apple is no different. A job advertisement by Apple has started the rumours flying once again about what could possibly be in the next generation iPhone from Apple.
The California-based company is advertising for a “Cellular Technology Software Manager” who will have, amongst other things, ‘expert knowledge’ of LTE technology.
Now for those of you who don’t know LTE is the latest generation of mobile data networks. In fact it’s known as 4G – which is also another reason why we are placing our bets on the next iPhone being called the iPhone 4G. Since the iPhone 3G was named after the fact it supported 3G network speeds, so it would only make sense that the next iPhone does to.
This would also make the roll out of LTE become more rapid, however this technology is not very prominent throughout the rest of the world and many places are showing no signs of implementing it yet. However the recent announcement of Sprints HTC EVO 4G may be causing Apple to get on with bringing 4G technology to their devices and keeping up with the game.
We’ll just have to wait and see, but I say we will see 4G network support in the next gen iPhone, but I don’t know if we’re ready for it. I know it’s starting to become more widely available in the states, but I don’t know about the rest of the world. Here in Ireland, I can’t say I’ve heard much about it.
What do you think?
