iPhone OS 4.0 Is Bringing Multitasking Similar To Expose

If you were to put together a list of what people want most from Apple, it would be multitasking. We’re constantly giving out about the lack of multitasking and we just can’t seem to understand why Apple won’t go ahead and implement it.
Well maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel as AppleInsider has decided to shed some light on iPhone OS 4.0.
They are saying that an Expose like feature which is found on Mac OS X will be coming to iPhone OS 4.0. What happens is users can double click on the home button and they will be displayed with a list of currently open and running applications. The user can then select one of these apps and the iPhone OS will then zoom into it.
Those familiar with the design of iPhone 4.0 said that the user interface will resemble Apple’s desktop Expose feature, in that a key combination — reportedly hitting the Home button twice — will trigger an expose-like interface that brings up a series of icons representing the currently running apps, allowing users to quickly select the one they want to switch to directly. When a selection is made, the iPhone OS zooms out of the Expose task manager and transitions to that app.
There has been lots of talk about multitasking coming to iPhone OS 4.0 but this is the first time we’ve been told how the actual feature will work.
Here’s to hoping Apple implement multitasking in the next gen iPhone!
