The iPhone 5 is likely to bring an 8MP main camera which could record 1080p Full HD videos; this information is almost one hundred percent certain. A recent discovery made while curious people were looking through the codes of iOS 5 suggests that the camera could also shoot panoramic stills, 9To5 Mac informed.
However, the code does not reveal how the method works, thefore we can only make assumptions. Users may only need to move the camera sideways over a landscape and the iPhone binds the images together so as to create a continuous image. Panoramic still may be generated by stitching photos together or by creating a movie.
The idea is not new, since other non-iOS smartphones offer this feature. This would not be the first time when Apple uses an existing idea/concept and improves it in order to integrate it in its devices – people have also noticed a striking similarity between iOS 5’s Notification Center and the MobileNotifier app.
Developers working on an app that could enable iPhone users to take panoramic photos should give up the idea since they are not going to become the next Peter Hajas.
