Rumors Leaks Official News Carriers iPhone Issues Hints & Tips Discussion Apps iPhone Accessories Apple iOS Other Will The Next Gen iPhone Have 64GB Memory Capacity?

Toshiba has announced it has created the world’s first 64GB NAND chips, building on the 32GB NAND packages it launched in the spring this year. They are saying that they will be available for major production from the beginning of 2010.
But what does this mean to you and me? Well basically, Toshiba provided the 32GB chips to Apple in order for them to expand the memory of the iPhone 3GS to 32GB. This new chip would potentially allow a 64GBiPhone 3GS model or a 128GB iPod Touch as the maximum capacity model instead of the current 64GB one.
The iPhone would be limited to 64GB as it only has room for one chip inside as the remainder of the space is taken up with communication devices. The iPod Touch on the other hand, has enough room to fit in Two of these 64GB chips, giving a total capacity of 128GB.iphone3gs-600
So since these chips will be available within the next few months, we’re all wondering if Apple may release a new 4th Generation iPhone in the coming months. A memory upgrade seems like a logical option and there are already reports of a 4th Generation iPhone out in the wild.
Obviously this break through by Toshiba doesn’t just apply to Apple, it will also allow all electronic devices like cameras, netbooks and more to increase their total capacity sizes.
