Future Gen iPhones To Have New Audio Jack?

Apple are constantly pushing the boundaries of design and always coming up with new ideas to implement in their products, but this new patent filling will have a couple of you raising your eyebrows.
According to this patent application, Apple are looking to remake the headphone jack as we know it. To put it simply, Apple doesn’t like holes or buttons on their devices, so any that can be got rid of, Apple will get rid of them.
So you have the headphone jack, and the microphone input, two holes, but can Apple get them to be one?
Well Apple are certainly looking to try out that idea anyway.

The patent argues that “in addition to using housing real estate, sound input apertures and electrical connectors introduce openings in the housing and breach the barrier that protects components inside the housing.”
So you have fewer holes in the device, which means less chance of dust finding it’s way in and it also is in keeping with Apple’s minimalist design.
Another perk could possible be enhanced voice quality, but I’m not to sure, I’d need to see a prototype of it before I could make a decision on that.
But there’s Apple for you, always coming up with these new ideas, trying to change the normal
