For example, a revamped „Notification Center” is available and notification will not stop active apps anymore. Deep Twitter integration means that iOS users will be able to send their tweets from built-in apps, Safari or YouTube. As for Safari, the browser has only one option for scrolling long articles now.
iMessage will let users send messages from the iPad and iPod Touch over Wi-Fi or 3G for the first time. The app also offers support for chatting programs and let users know when their message has reached the addressee or when the other users are typing.
Over the air updates will also be available and a new digital newspaper center will let iOS users read the latest news based on a subscription while apps download and updates will take place in the background.
iOS users will also be able to launch the camera app right from the lock screen and press the volume button to shoot a photo. Photos can now be edited, cropped or rotated as well.
“We’re making it way faster to just get in and take photos,” Forstall stated.
The new split keyboard will let users thumb type much easier while the new mail features will bring improved enterprise options such as encrypted mail.
Apple’s senior vice-president reported that 200 million iOS products have been bought, out of which 25 million have been iPads. Users have bought 15 billion songs and 130 million books and downloaded 14 billion apps.
