iPhone OS 4.0 Set To Include Multitasking and iAd

Only yesterday Apple told invited us all to the iPhone OS 4.0 event to give us a ” sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software”. Of course it set of a flurry of excitement and anticipation on the web as to what Apple could be up to with people throwing out all sorts of crazy things like the next gen iPhone being announced to a new iPad model.
However we’re a bit more composed here and don’t tend to get too carried away and we’ve been on the look out for more reliable sources of information. According to AppleInsider iPhone OS 4.0 will include support for full on multitasking! Now while we have reported on that before, this time they come loaded with “reliable sources” from an analyst by the name of Shaw Wu
He is claiming that Apple will be releasing full support for multitasking of apps in the next iPhone software update. He believes it’s very important for not only the iPhone and iPod Touch but more so for the iPad which has just been released with a faster processor and larger screen where users will find themselves looking to multi task more often than on the iPhone.
Wu also mentions Apple’s forthcoming mobile advertising API, which is rumored to be called iAd. He’s saying that it’s not going to really make a great deal of money for Apple themselves, but is more aimed at giving developers an opportunity to make more revenue from their apps. This would encourage more developers to make apps for Apple, which would result is more sales for Apple.
In addition, Wu said he’s also got wind that better games for the iPhone OS platform are coming, and Apple could make an announcement related to that on Thursday as well.
“While we don’t have fuller details, we are picking up indication that there will likely be gaming related announcements where AAPL will make it easier to develop more powerful and sophisticated games,”"We believe this makes sense for the iPad in particular with its much more powerful capabilities.”
So it looks like multitasking might finally find it’s way into the world of Apple, and if so it’s about flippin time! I’m sure it would give Apple a great boost, now if only they could get on board with flash……
