No iPhone For Verizon Coming This Year Says Analyst

Verizon users hoping for an iPhone release on their network this year got excited earlier this year, when rumours that there was in fact a Verizon iPhone on the way. Well I’m afraid things aren’t looking good for you, after we just got your hopes up, unfortunately we may have to bring you back down to earth again.
According to BroadPoint AmTech analyst Brian Marshall, AT&T has extended its exclusive deal thanks to their bargaining with the iPad. This means that AT&T have exclusive rights to the iPhone 4G in America so no other carrier can get their hands on it.

AT&T had to do something dramatic to get the iPad. [AT&T's negotiated a 50% discount on iPad data plans with Apple] For that pricing, AT&T was able to negotiate a six-month extension on the iPhone exclusive.

So after we were expecting a Verizon iPhone 4G in 2010, it looks like Verizon users will have to wait until at least 2011 now.
