No NFC or iWallet For iPhone 5

One of the features many people thought would find its way into the iPhone 5 was NFC (near field communication) dubbed by many as the iWallet. This would allow users to make payments by simply waving their iPhone 5 past a scanner, just like a wireless credit card built into your phone.
However, according to a report from the Independent, this feature won’t be making an appearance in the iPhone 5. They claim to have several sources from carriers who have been told that Apple plan on introducing the feature next year, probably with the iPhone 6 and not the iPhone 5.

Google’s Nexus S was one of the first phones to have this feature and this is one area where Android will have the edge on Apple yet again. Apple’s reason for not introducing it is the lack of a clear universal standard. This is certainly a problem as the technology hasn’t been rolled out at all, it’s only available in very few locations at the moment. It’s also rumored that Apple’s working on  it’s own version of NFC for iTunes.
It’s not unlike Apple to omit features which they feel won’t be implemented well, so it looks like NFC is being pushed to the side for now
