iPhone 5 May Be iPhone 4S – Preparations Under Way For September Release

There is many conflicting rumors and sources coming in at the moment. 9to5 Mac has reported that Apple have seeded prototypes of the iPhone 5 to some developers. The sources referred to the next gen devices as the “iPhone 4S”
In a separate report Digitimes also referred to the iPhone 4S:

Production of iPhone 4S will begin in August and the earliest launch may be in September. All the 3G and CDMA chips for iPhone 4S will be supplied by Qualcomm and the rear camera will be upgraded to a 8-megapixel resolution model with OmniVision Technologies and Taiwan-based Largan Precision to supply image sensors and lens kits respectively, the sources indicated.

There is one thing that remains consistent throughout all the reports though, and that’s that the next gen iPhone will have Apples new A5 processor in it.

There is more conflicting rumors about the release date however. Digitimes reckon that Apple will begin production in August and release it in September. However other reports have suggested that the release date won’t be until 2012. The reason being that the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S is expected to have the new LTE technology in it. Apparently those chips won’t be available for production until later this year.
Digitimes has also reported that Apple has slowed down its production pace for the iPhone 4, another sign that it’s getting ready for a release. However this could also because of a slow down in demand.
