The screenshots have been posted on the iTunes Store where customers can purchase the SpeechTrans app for $19.99. There is no doubt that one of the two devices is an iPhone 4, but people have yet failed to agree whether the purported edge-to-edge iPhone is a genuine gadget or just the work of a Photoshop fan.
Those who claim the photo is genuine rely on the fact that the screenshots have been published by a trustful company and have the label ‘powered by Nuance’ on them. Moreover, iOS 5 is expected to bring indeed speech recognition capabilities and Nuance could be just the right company to supply the software to the Cupertino giant. In this case Apple may have handed Nuance an iPhone 5 to test the voice recognition app.
On the other hand, the screenshots show a home button that is unnaturally close to the bottom of the display. This small detail has made some people say the photos are fake. Clearly, the Photoshop fan that overlapped the images has done a rather sloppy job.
The images are mock-ups and developers may have just made a mistake with the screenshot size, 9to5 Mac suggests. The iPhone 5 is expected to hit the stores in September and then we will know for sure if Apple has indeed embedded an edge-to-edge screen in its smartphones or not.
